Noel's preschool class has a different "Student of the Week" each week. They randomly rotate through all of the students, giving each child a chance to feel extra special for a week. During a child's week as "Student of the Week," he/she gets to do such novel things as bring in a poster with some of his/her favorite photos (of him/herself, family members, pets, etc), bring in a special snack, have a parent read a favorite book to the class, be the teachers' special helper, and be the "line leader." The kids are all so, SO excited when they get selected for the week.
Since we are moving to Atlanta at the end of February, I wanted to make sure that Noel gets to be "Student of the Week before we leave town. I talked to his teacher, and she happily (non-randomly) selected Noel for the next week...(Thanks, Mrs. Garrison!). He was SO EXCITED! He had several VERY SPECIFIC requests for his special week. He wanted "cookies that spell [his] name...N-O-E-L...in blue! Blue NOEL cookies!" He wanted his poster to have "LOTS of pictures!" He wanted to wear his favorite shirts each day. And he wanted Daddy to read his long-time favorite book, the "tails book" (a.k.a., "What Do You Do With A Tail Like This"), to his friends.
Your wishes are our commands, son...
Blue N-O-E-L cookies...
An "All About Noel" poster with "LOTS of pictures"...
(an up-close look...)
Dressed in his very favorite shirt and ready for day #1...
Daddy reading to the "treetop" class later in the week...
And Noel wearing favorite shirt #2...
The last day of Noel's week got snowed out, but he had so much fun during all the other days that he didn't mind. Our special boy's teachers helped him to feel extra special for a few days...the week was a success!
