We went to the Art-B-Que festival with The Corkrans on Saturday. It was a pretty fun time. At the festival, the girls (Avery and Lucy) were eyeing a hula hoop booth. Lucy's Dad bought her one, and Avery decided that she wanted one, too...and that it would be the perfect thing to spend her Easter money (the money she got from all of the eggs that she collected) on. She and Lucy spent a little bit of time trying out their hula hoops once we got back to The Corkrans' house, but they quickly got distracted by other things, and the hoops sat unused for much of the night. They hula hooped for a bit the next morning (after our family sleep over), and Avery hula hooped a few times after we got home that afternoon. I was pretty impressed with how well she was doing with it...especially since it was so new to her...and since I have never really been able to hula hoop. She went to bed that night a pretty good little hula hooper.
The next day, she woke up and grabbed her hula hoop first thing. She put it around her waist and started it going and...she was AMAZING! It is like it all clicked in her head at night while she was sleeping! She could keep her new toy twirling FOREVER! Jeff and I were so impressed with her...and baffled by the dramatic amount of progress she made in such a little bit of time...and without even touching the toy!
Now, almost a week later, she is RIDICULOUS at her new trick. Yesterday, I walked in on her standing in the middle of the living room, hula hooping and BRUSHING HER HAIR! This morning, she was hula hooping while holding a plastic spoon in her mouth and balancing a small plastic cat on the scoop part of the utensil. Crazy...
Noel, on the other hand, is not a hula hooper. Atleast not yet. He hasn't shown much interest in learning this skill...except, of course, when he saw that Avery was being videoed performing her new trick. He asked me to video him hula hooping, too. Here's the result...
I love how he barely moves his body, but throws his head around all dizzily. That boy always makes me laugh...
