Both at school and at home Avery has been working on learning the letters of the alphabet. As of the past few weeks she has really gotten into the process...pointing out her favorite letters (mostly the ones in her name but also B, F, O, S, and X) anywhere she sees them. Not only does she point letters out, she also tries to produce the letters' sounds, as well as words that begin with each letter...which is what we do for her when we are trying to teach her ("F...fuh, fuh...fun"). While she is very good at recognizing letters, she has not quite figured out the sounds and words part, yet.
Wednesday, we were riding in an elevator (on the way to a doctor's appointment...our first sick visit ever...boo!) when Avery spotted a "B" on the elevator wall.
Avery: "Look, Daddy! A "B!" I see the letter B!"
Jeff: "Yeah, that's a "B." Good job, sweetie!"
Avery: "B...kuh, kuh...Avery"...(proud, smarty-pants look)...
At least she's trying, right?
B ba ba b, Bob, the name that Terry calls Nana's dog Sport.
