Though living in an apartment complex means that my children don't have a yard to play in, they do have a big, empty section of a parking lot for playing...which is perfect for bike riding. Avery has always loved riding her bike. One day recently, she up and decided that she was done with her training wheels and ready to try really riding her bike. She has done so well with it! She is a bit timid, but all-in-all, she has been very brave and determined in attempting to reach her new goal. She's not there, yet, but she's working hard and having fun!
Getting going...
Daddy still helps with turns...
Good riding, Aves!
Good catch, Dad...(yikes!)...
Noel is a very reluctant bike rider. Jeff and I guess that it is because he sees Avery as good at riding, and he doesn't want to risk being bad, so he just opts out instead. Ahhhh, sibling rivalry...
So, while Avery's riding her bike, Noel mostly just runs around the parking lot, collecting leaves and nuts and such...
...or trying to get me to chase him.
We force him to ride his bike for a few minutes each time we go out, because we know he'll have so much fun with it once he feels comfortable and confident riding.
At first he fought us quite a bit, but now we can usually pretty easily motivate him to give it a try by letting him pretend to ride his bike into one of us...
As you can see, that's a pretty good incentive...well, that and the hugs he gets afterward...
Good job, Noely-bug!
