The "flumb" is gone...

Since he first tried to say the word "thumb," Noel has always pronounced it "flumb."  I love, Love, LOVE it!  I have always really enjoyed that about my kids...seeing which words they incorrectly pronounce and how they go about it.  For Noel, "Avery" was "A-ry"..."yellow" was "lellow"..."fork" was...well...it sounded a lot like a big, bad word...and "thumb" was "flumb."

As he got older, Noel slowly learned to pronounce all of his words correctly...all except for "flumb."  Less than a week ago, I made note of this mispronunciation on my latest "Things I want to remember..." post.

Well, last night, Jeff tried to prompt Noel to say "flumb."  After a particularly hard week (or weeks, rather), Jeff wanted the little pick-me-up that comes with hearing our boy say that word.  He held out is thumb to Noel and said,

"Hey buddy, what's this?"

And what did Noel say in return?

"A thumb..."

HE SAID THUMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


I seriously thought my heart was going to break...


Jeff whipped around and looked at me with wide, shocked eyes and an open, gasping mouth...

"Did he just say "thumb" the right way?"

He did.


I was fighting back tears...


There goes the last of my baby boy...
