Our little SUPER STUDENT...

Avery got chosen to be the Super Student in her class last week. She was SO totally excited! Every Wednesday, the current Super Student draws the name of the next week's Super Student out of a box. I'm guessing the drawing occurs near the end of the school day, because on Wednesdays Avery usually mopes her way out of school sporting the fresh wound of not having her name selected. However, last Wednesday, Avery came flying out of the front doors and excitedly shouted, "I get to be Super Student! Can you believe it? Leyton picked my name from the box!" She immediately started planning out her special week...

Here is our Super Student ready to head to school for her first day of Super Student-dom. She is holding her poster of photos she chose to share with her class. She is also sporting a fancy new outfit (ooh la la!)...

This is Avery's class intently watching as Jeff reads a book to them during their story time. Because Thanksgiving was in a few weeks, Avery selected Thanks for Thanksgiving by Julie Markes.

Another perk of being Super Student is the chosen child gets to bring in a special snack to share with her classmates. Avery chose turkey cookies for Monday...

...apples for Tuesday, and, then, for Wednesday, Jeff and I decided to surprise our special little student by ordering soft pretzels (her favorite) from Pretzel Boys (a.k.a The Pretzel Place) formed in the shape of the letter "A" (for Avery, of course).

Because Avery's birthday doesn't fall during the school year, her Super Student week is our one chance to help her feel special at school. It's her chance to be the center of attention...to share a little more about herself with her friends and teachers. She was so excited about her special week, and I hope we made her feel as "super" as we think she is...
